This Is Why MAC Products Are Totally Worth Every Penny Spent

Whether you are a newbie in the makeup fraternity or you’ve been a makeup junkie for ages, one thing is for sure – you are already familiar with the word or brand MAC and have heard or said it hundreds of times. The great thing about this popular makeup brand is that it’s forever new! Even after using MAC makeup for over a year, I still feel like a newbie. Why, you ask? Because the cult-favorite cosmetic brand has so many categories within categories and so many makeups and related products to try! Mind you, there is something for everyone out there!

Unfortunately, I agree with some who claim that MAC makeup is expensive. Yes, it is costly if you aren’t passionate about makeup and beauty and can do with other good brands (yes, there are others), But since I love and adore MAC, I decided to chalk out a few reasons why MAC is worth every penny spent. This article can also be a great reference for beginners in makeup.

Foundation: Since this article is beginner-friendly, excuse me if you read certain things you already know (or you could treat it like a refresher course!). When it comes to makeup, the first thing you need to buy is the right type and shade of foundation for your skin’s needs and undertones. MAC has a kind of foundation for every skin type. Whether you are the oily or combination type, normal or dry type, or even sensitive type, you’ll have a range of MAC foundations that suit you best.

Apart from the ‘types,’ they even have a horde of shades for every skin tone! You name it pale, olive, tan, dark, wheatish, yellow, pinkish, and MAC has it! The shades are labeled with N (neutral), C (cool), W (warm), NC (neutral cool), and NW (neutral warm), and depending on the undertones of your skin, you can choose any shade in each of these categories, as there are as many as 40 shades in each label. This is wild: 40 shades in each label! Isn’t it hands down the best bet for any makeup enthusiast? Beginners must test the foundation by testing 2 or 3 shades closest to their natural skin tone and applying them on the jawline. Check to see which one disappears or gets camouflaged on your face. That’s your shade.

Concealer: Every girl has had a breakout at least once during puberty. If not that, then the smallest pigmentation bothers some of us. If you have any imperfection on your face, you wish you didn’t. You need to know just how essential concealer is. It’s a must-have for almost every one of us. Coming back to MAC, their concealers are rather good. Although I’ll be honest, there aren’t as many of these with MAC as foundations, but they do their job well (covering blemishes or dark circles). MAC concealers are available in 6 ranges – Studio Finish (SPF15), Select Cover-Up, Select Moisture Cover, Studio Sculpt Concealer, Pro Longwear, and Mineralise – and similar to the foundations, they follow the same shade guide. At the same time, choosing a concealer, bear in mind your skin type, shade, and undertones.

Blushes and eyeshadows: Who doesn’t love a good blush? Most people like various blushes in their makeup kits; whether cream or powder, mineral or long-wearing, MAC has them all! MAC blushes are easy to use and available in various colors and textures, from dewy to sheer transparent. Besides, when it comes to eye shadows, you can never have enough. The MAC eyeshadows have many different finishes, so there is something for all tastes and occasions.

Lipsticks: I’d agree that MAC lipsticks are a bit too pricey for some of us, but if you can afford one, get one. Why? Because MAC lipsticks are absolutely fabulous! They are pigmented and glide smoothly on your lips (and they smell good, too!) MAC lipsticks are available in many textures, but then again, if you don’t want to spend that much on lipsticks, you could give it a pass.

So there you have it. Everything about MAC makeup is perfect. Beginners should definitely turn to MAC because it is safe on the skin. As far as the price is concerned, compare MAC with other international brands like Stila, Estee Lauder, Dior, Smashbox, and Lancome (which cost significantly more). It won’t feel so expensive anymore.
